Big Girl Delilah was an urgent care rescue. She, and an unrelated foal were in dire need of urgent care. When we arrived after receiving the call for assistance, we immediately began the process of loading them into our rescue trailer. The foal was almost non responsive by the time we took her to our Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Fairfield, TX, where staff worked diligently on her for 72 hours. She stabilized, but blood results were not promising. She passed away the next evening. Delilah had much more strength as an adult, and we were able to stabilize her at our rescue, in our infirmary area where she immediately received an IV, Electrolytes, and emergency care medicines and supplements. After her first 72 hours she began to show significant progress. Today, a year and a half later, at approx 23 years of age, she is healthy and happy, though she still requires longterm care and weight maintenance. Due to the severity of her initial state, she has setbacks, but is a fighter and sweet as can be! She's a star!
A wonderful video of one of our Annual Vet Checks performed by our Rescue and Ranch Veterinarians Dr. Jim Smiley of Smiley Animal Clinic, and Dr. Dean Smiley of Advanced Medical Veterinary. We have all of our animals vet checked annually with full physicals from top to bottom, and yearly vaccinations. Our cost averages $2800.00 per annual visit. We have the most amazing Veterinarians for our rescue animals both of whom care deeply for each animal's well-being both physically, and emotionally. ❤
